Library Lookup Tool

Friday, March 19th, 2004

http://weblog.infoworld.com/udell/stories/2002/12/11/librarylookup.html

A cool tool that lets you search your local library to see does it have in stock a book that was mentioned on a website. Searches by ISBN now I think.

where would you like to be in 5 years

Friday, March 19th, 2004

“where would you like to be in 5 years ? ”

I was asked this by txt Thu from this kid I respect. Its a good question and will promote a rant .

Begin Rant.

I would like to be in a different Ireland to the one we have today. I want to live in an Ireland where people don’t blink any eye whos hand you hold. I want an Ireland where I’m free to marry someone of the same sex or someone of the opposite sex.

I want to love in an Ireland free of corruption in every part of life. The Brown Envelopes and back-hander mentality is almost an accepted norm nowadays. People assume politicians are corrupt and do nothing about it. We need honest, decent politicians to show people there is such a thing and we should reward these people.

Rant almost over.

Not enough time and too much information

Wednesday, March 17th, 2004

Someone said I have too much time on my hands but in fairness even if I didn’t have to sleep I’d still not have enough time. Theres so much information out there that I’ll never be able to take in everything that I want to know about with my current physical structure. Maybe when they perfect that computer-neural interface then I can take in more.

Also a quality filter on the information thats out there would help a lot too.

Madonna – Dear Jessie
Lyrics

Pink elephants and lemonade, dear Jessie
Hear the laughter running through the love parade
Candy kisses and a sunny day, dear Jessie
See the roses raining on the love parade

People who don’t listen.

Tuesday, March 16th, 2004

There are people who, instead of listening to what is being said to them, are already listening to what they’re going to say.

Day 2 of staying off junk food again. I need diet coke and chocolate !

Cafe Paradiso

Monday, March 15th, 2004

My first time in a Vegetarian Restaurant last night unless you class the Quay Coop as a Restaurant. Cafe Paradiso is a really nice restaurant despite the lack of meat. Got some Mushroom thing as the main meal, wasn’t very impressed with it !

Not enough infusion of flavours, just mushrooms and some mash. In fairness the mash was the best I’ve tasted but the mushrooms were just that, they tasted like any other mushrooms.

The service was excellent though. And the waitress was so sweet and gorgeous too. All places should have staff like that. We got organic lemonade and it was brought out in cans. BIG NO NO. An effort should have been made.

The deserts were definetly delicous and divine. Blood orange sorvet covered in white chocolate. Yum.

Price overall was on the cheeky side but everything was organic. I’d go again. The company was good too though. It made the night.

New musical excess

Sunday, March 14th, 2004

Jet, the Stills, Jonny Greenwood and the Von Bondies. All very interesting and work looking at.

IOLBB seems to have issues with the nameserver that my main sites are on. I’ll change nameserver because I doubt these fuckwits in IOl will fix their issues.

Scissors and Sea Power

Tuesday, March 9th, 2004

Been listening to the Scissors Sisters recently. They are touring with Duran Duran at the moment. Kind of pop/synth group with a kind of Tranny feel too. Hedwig gone synth I’d call them.

Also listening to a tune by British Sea Power and liked it so I got their album. Not Listened to it yet but I’m expecting interesting things.

Booked time off from work to go see The Orb on May 7th. Must book my ticket now.

Watched 1.5 episodes of the tv series Jam. Will watch more but its very very odd, even for me. I’m not sure do I like the format but the humour is okay. Quite good at times.

I can’t pretend that I could be the man you said you saw in me

Sunday, March 7th, 2004

Cooper Temple Clause – Blind Pilots

You came along to change the grade
To raise the bar I’d made of late
You came along to raise the stakes
To tend to me and my mistakes
I can’t pretend that I could be
The man you said you saw in me
But hang around and I’ll try and land this thing

Saw the video for this song on MTV germany while I was in Tenerife. Thought it was a new song. Its been out for ges, its off the Album “Kick Up The Fire, And Let The Flames Break Loose”

I like the song, it comes across as a bit passionate. The guys voice sounds like Liam Gallaghers when singing the chorus but through the rest of the song its far superior. The lyrics make a bit more sense than the usual Oasis lyrics too.

Oh yeah and its my birthday. Pretend to like me for a few hours and put up with my mini-dramas.
