Michael Lynn Tapes: Newstalk fails to give attribution to bloggers

But is happy to let John Waters rant about bloggers and their lack of fact-checking. So Suzy, being the single source for the Michael Lynn Tapes has a right to be miffed. As I understand it, Newstalk were given access to the tapes but were afraid to use em but now that Rick O’Shea has used them (and gave attribution!) and papers have referenced them (without attribution) Newstalk too are playing them. I do wonder though who’ll get the royalties for these songs? The banks? A bank account in Brazil? Newstalk should thank Suzy in the morning and spell out her website address.

Edit: Clarified the point that Rick did the decent thing, as he always does!

Scumbags. You’d expect it from the likes of the Star, but I guess all Irish media is going down the gutter press route these days.

I don’t buy newspapers, but I do listen to the radio. For now…

I was going to suggest a mass texting tomorrow morning asking them to “cite their source” (to paraphrase Fergal from this morning), but I realised that that would just put shekels in their pockets for being a little bit, well… evil.

Suzy has done a lot of spade work on the M.Lynn fiasco and deserves credit. In fairness to Rick O’Shea, he credited her for unearthing these… gems(?) of musical history.

I’m particularly miffed as Suzy is the antithesis of the blogger stereotype that HeWhoMustBeUnnamed (the Lord Voldemort of the Irish blogosphere – you know who I mean) has been ignorantly hacking into over the past while.

So, it seems Newstalk likes bloggers when they provide some fisticuffs entertainment to the masses over their cornflakes but don’t want to know them when it means having to give them credit for a scoop.

Long comment – mea culpa. mea maxima culpa.

Well, I reckon this should confirm the IT literacy of Newstalk. Ah well, at least we know where their admin interface is now. 🙂

    Agreed.
The two faced manner in which Newstalk work say way too much to the listener about their impartiality as a broadcaster.

  8. Green Ink says:

Out of order. And I thought the teaser about J*** W***** going head-to-head with “a blogger” up until the actual piece was disrespectful to Fergal. He has a name so use it!

  9. Rick says:

As if I would not give credit to a fellow blogger. Here at glorious RTE we attribute our sources 🙂 And media types? All bad. Except for me, of course.

  10. Damien says:

Crikey Rick sorry if I wrote it like you didn’t give her credit. I listened to the piece where you did and even sounded frenchy. 🙂

  11. Thaedydal says:

Feck Mr lynn really his firm did the rubber stamping on my house nearly 8 years ago and while it was all above board all the documents are impounded and I can’t get access to try and sell the house.

  12. Cormac says:

Tell the Law Society you will hold them liable for every penny.

Do so in writing by registered mail to the president of the law society.

Tell them they have 24 hours to courier over all YOUR documents to your current solicitor or else!!!

Did they find out who the coke snorting politician was 🙂

  14. Maman Poulet says:

Thaedydal should ascertain that the Law Society actually have said documents – not all Lynn’s paperwork is in the hands of the Society – and I don’t say this to be alarmist, it’s just time the whole thing got out there for the benefit of all his clients – some were more favoured (and duped) than others.
