In the mouth of a snake
Thursday, April 8th, 2004Scissors and Sea Power
Tuesday, March 9th, 2004Been listening to the Scissors Sisters recently. They are touring with Duran Duran at the moment. Kind of pop/synth group with a kind of Tranny feel too. Hedwig gone synth I’d call them.
Also listening to a tune by British Sea Power and liked it so I got their album. Not Listened to it yet but I’m expecting interesting things.
Booked time off from work to go see The Orb on May 7th. Must book my ticket now.
Watched 1.5 episodes of the tv series Jam. Will watch more but its very very odd, even for me. I’m not sure do I like the format but the humour is okay. Quite good at times.
Apocalypse Now
Monday, February 9th, 2004We left the camp after we had innoculated the children for Polio, and this old man came running after us and he was crying. He couldn’t see. We went back there and they had come and hacked off every innoculated arm. There they were in a pile… A pile of little arms. And I remember… I… I… I cried… I wept like some grandmother
and another
Monday, February 9th, 2004Micheál took this as we got the train back to Cork from Dublin last year. That was a really lovely weekend. The image was renamed on the phone to “at my most beautiful”. How sweet.
All About My Mother
Saturday, December 27th, 2003“To Bette Davis, Gena Rowlands, Romy Schneider…
to all actresses who have played actresses,
to all women who act,
to men who act and become women,
to all the people who want to be mothers.
To my mother.”
Thats the dedication that ends All About My Mother
Its a superb piece of directing, writing and acting. The cast rocks, the dialogue is just amazing and hollywood screenwriters should take note of how to write. My god its inspired me to write good dialogue for my works. I just read the review of this on IMDB and I have to seriously object to it. This is a great great film with so many interesting characters and events. Its bizarre enough to be true.
150
Wednesday, October 29th, 2003Saw this link to Dunbar’s Co-evolution of neocortex size, group size and language in humans. Found this via Interconnected. It talks about some numbers that pop up again and again in groups: 150 and 7. Gladwell talked about this too in his book The Tipping Point
Interesting how there are natural numbers in nature. Reminds me of Pi:
11:15, restate my assumptions: 1. Mathematics is the language of nature. 2. Everything around us can be represented and understood through numbers. 3. If you graph these numbers, patterns emerge. Therefore: There are patterns everywhere in nature.
Interesting google thingy
Friday, September 12th, 2003I’m noticing that the other Mulley Website I have is fairly high up on the google rankings. I think I just have one link pointing to it and thats from this website. In the mini-snapshot that google does of the page under the link to it it shows that the date and it shows 2 days ago. Seems the forum software displaying the date is enough for google to think the website has been updated. One of the pageranking conditions for higher page rank is how fresh the website is.
Must do more tests.
