Bunreacht – Get the Irish Constitution on your iPhone

August 2014 update. App re-released and available here.

Released by Nathan Shaughnessy is this handy app for law geeks, politicos and everyone else. Bunreacht. And it’s free!

Love this app, very handy. Perhaps urban legend but Mary Robinson apparently carried a copy of the the Bunreacht around with her all the time. For the budding Marys, now it’s an app. (May not guarantee you become president one day) One thing I’d like though is for it to be copy and pastable. Edit: I just had fat fingers, copy and paste works. Rocking!

Excellent, I picked up a paper copy a few years ago. It’s actually a very readable document and throws up some interesting nuggets (e.g. you don’t have to be a TD to be a minister!).

  2. Should be a big hit in Dáil Éireann. Seriously though, that’s excellent.

  3. They really do have an app for everything these days!!!

  4. Hopefully it will be having an update (no doubt held for months in the Apple approval process) to remove the blasphemy thing. 🙂

Clever clogs! Now I have an app to intellectually counteract iFart. Copy/Paste seems to be working for me.

  6. Hi Damien,

Cheers for the positive review. I just submitted an update to Apple that includes the latest amendment, the Lisbon Treaty.

Good to hear copy and paste is working for you too.

Both the app and the dev’s website appear to be MIA, any idea what happened? Thanks, Ciaran

  8. Nathan Shaughnessy says:

    Hi Ciaran,

Unfortunately the app came down when my developer license lapsed. I haven’t had any free time to work on the app in the last couple of years. I might be able to get it back up some time in the future.

Hi Nathan, you don’t know how useful this app has been to lawyers, students, public servants and politicos. Please get back to work on the updates. I don’t know you get paid if at all for this but it’s really important. Maith thú

Hi there, It would be great to be able to get this app! I think it is so useful, especially for me as I use it for work all the time! Looking forward to the update!

  11. Bunreacht has been updated and is live on the App Store again. I rewrote the app for iOS 7, and it works now on iPads as well as iPhones. Hope you all enjoy it.
