    Agreed, the DTCS list of cultural technology grants is a bit odd, although some of the projects sound interesting… as an (unsuccessful) applicant, however, I’d note that the application process required all funds to be drawn down by 30 November, even though notifications weren’t sent out until late October– so realistically folks were just sending in proposals for projects already in train. Also there were no guidelines as to the number of awards or amounts available, so I don’t think it was a particularly ‘strategic’ grant process, just a way to deal with a budget surplus. Interesting too to see that grants ranged from 9k-180k, and the sheer number of iPhone app grants!
