Actually, in fairness, with my serious head on it’s clear that Poor Jim Corr is having a Manic Episode. Manic episodes are not always what we think and can often be delusions grandeur such as one thinking one has the power to fly, or can speak to Elvis or whatever. And as one commentor pointed out it’s probably got a lot to do with being under the star shadow of his oh so gorgeous sisters and he’s hit melt down by the looks of it.
Either that or there’s a new Corrs Album out soon eh Jimboy? LMAO!

Good grief. His phrase “tiptoe totalitarianism” is quite zippy though. I’m with 73 man - the speed at which the guy was talking; the fact that there was some loose surface logic there but the assumptions made are giant leaps - it definitely looks like the guy’s having a spot of the old manics.

You should check out Scholars for truth. http://st911. org They are a collection of over 80 scholars of architecture, many fields of science including physics, Engineering, etc.They believe that 9/11 was an inside job and have started their own international organization and some of them tour America and the world doing conferences on the subject.

Ok, so it all sounds a bit mad. We’ve heard it all before conspiracy after conspiracy, after conspiracy. It is easy to be on the debunking side as you need no proof, you just go with the flow, believe what you are told, maintain the status quo. Now how many times in our lifetimes has is been revealed that a politician lied, that the media were favouring a particular political message and so on and so forth?
These ‘conspiracy’ theories about 911 don’t all add up, but the official story certainly doesn’t either. I feel that those in power are happy to have these conspiracies going around so that they can laugh them off and then not have to explain the official story because it is ‘top secret’. They keep people busy arguing among themselves without looking at the bigger picture. It’s all not as simple as left and right, but there has always been the need to divide and conquer and I’m sure Sun Tzu’s book in on every world leader’s desk.
Jim Corr’s rant does not sound all that insane to me. Could any of it be proven.. not likely. But so many people attest to faith and we should believe them? If anything it is does seem that he is jumping on a bandwagon as Damien rightly points out on Blather, but then again the majority of people have jumped on the bigger bandwagon of trusting the media and not asking questions, not thinking for themselves. History has shown us that this has been a mistake.
I note with interest that the few who are agreeing with some of what Jim said are remaining anonymous. This is somewhat understandable. I was going to post this on my own blog and not care about revealing myself. But then I thought; “well speaking my mind has got me in trouble before and I am currently looking for work abroad so maybe it’s better I hide my identity”. So this is purely self preservation! (You will get a good laugh by clicking the weblink here!). I’ve seen a lot of these films; Loose Change, Zeitgeist and they do ask some good questions. This is important. It is investigative journalism, something which the mainstream media has given up up a long time ago. Now they just read the from the autocue and sometimes give us ‘opinion’.
But documentary as a format has allowed a more detailed look at news and piece together stands from the past. Two more mainstream acceptable one’s, incidentally both by Adam Curtis, are The Power Of Nightmares and The Century of The Self. Watch these and then think about what goes on behind closed doors at the highest levels of power.
As Chuck D would say; “Don’t Believe The Hype” and remember that the hype is the mainstream. Take a swim up that tributary of thinking for yourself. Don’t have time?
That’s half the problem.. this way of thinking.. Think of all the crap we do have time for. Learning doesn’t stop at school. Wake up.

What gets me - is the amount of attention it is getting from the media as if it’s the first time anyone has ever mentioned this. Is the Irish media so thick or inward looking that they don’t realise this is old “news”? I have seen it mentioned many times an the last 3 years or so in UK papers and on UK TV. Are Irish journalists and radio chat show producers and hosts really that badly informed in Ireland?

Hey, the funniest bit is the BBC TV news broadcast at 4.30pm on the afternoon of 9/11. Newsreader Philip Hayton says he is getting a report that World Trade Centre Building 7 has just fallen. He cuts to their reporter in New York who looks very embarrassed and says that she is too far back to confirm this news about the building. As she speaks we can see Building no. 7 (still standing) behind her shoulder. A half an hour later World Trade Centre Building no. 7 (44 stories high) collapses in 9 seconds. It was not struck by a plane or anything. Poor old philip read the script but got the timing wrong! BBC claimed that they had lost the recording but luckily for them someone taped it and we can see it on 9/11 mysteries. A classic!

Its quite obvious that most of you have made little or no attempt to do your own research on 911. As Gore Vidal said the only plausible explanation for a passenger jet being able to fly unimpeded into the pentagon an hour and forty minutes after the attacks kicked off is that the airforce were given an order to stand down. But then most you probably dont even know who Gore Vidal is.

Taking an objective viewpoint has nothing to do with believing or not believing the fourth estate. Look at an issue, make your own mind up and run with it. Keep it open to new ideas and don’t be afraid to be challenged in your beliefs. Those who believe in conspiracy theories seem to have just as much a closed mind as those they deride. Re Jim Corr and his opinions I have to say my belief is that that was a load of hogwash. Oh and by the way the ECHR was incorporated in Ireland in 2001 as part of the Good Friday Agreement. The major criticism is that it is currently incorporated at a sub-constitutional level, but that is reflective of our status as a dualist state. The incorporation of the ECHR into the Reform Treaty provides a framework of fundamental rights that can be agreed upon by all members of the EU - there is much ECJ caselaw, esp commenced by Germany, that criticises the EU because it does not provide the same protection for fundamental freedoms as traditional constitutional structures. The development of the EU from a supranational to a quasi-federalistic state based on principles like subsidiarity demands greater efficiency in integration, which is primarily what the Reform Treaty is about. The Treaty actually increases transparency in decision making in the Commission which has been criticised hugely up to this point through its use of comitology. The Constitutional Treaty was rejected in France and the Netherlands because of national issues rather than problems with the EU. The major criticism i would have is with the apathy that exists within the electorate - and that is not just regarding issues that concern the EU. An academic called Joseph Weiler has said that there is an invasion of market mentality onto the sphere of politics where voters become consumers of political outcomes rather than active participants in the democratic process. Is this a conspiracy? Sallust said that only a few prefer liberty, most want nothing more than fair masters. I think this is probably a more pragmatic belief. Most of us do follow the herd. whether you agree with this is really down to your own beliefs. But at least form them objectively - we don’t have to live in Plato’s Cave. Nothing is black and white.

His argument is bollocks anyway, because the other explanation for a jet being able to fly unimpeded into the pentagon is the lack of precedent for such a thing happening - and a lack of ability by the administration at the time to give the order to shoot down a plane full of civilians. Things don’t actually happen the same in real life as they do in “24″…
