Funnily enough the only gigs I caught this year were Broose and Leonard, and between them they were the best gigs I've attended. One catches the despair of the production line no hoper, and the other taps the anguish of the poetic no hoper. Acoustics at Royal Hosp Kilmainham were far and away the best of any Dublin gig I've heard. Sun dipping, barbecue smells wafting and el Cohen's honeyed tones simply superb. Hitting midlife has its ups.

Love Cale's version. That song always gives me the goosebumps. Doesn't help that I'm sitting next to an open window at the mo either :)
