Great piece

Theres something about owning a piece of music/album, whether its a collection of mp3 in a folder on your harddrive or an actual cd on your shelf, that is still very important to me. As a music lover i feel the need to be in 'possession' of what i love - to know that i can listen to it anywhere at any time without any constraints such as having an internet connection or the webpage being in working order. The idea of streaming an album is fine but once ive heard it and enjoyed it i feel the need to own it - to complete the cycle of 'I've listened - I've loved - I've supported'.

On your comment of 'will new artists find new listeners if those listeners have acces to every piece of music in the world?', i think itll be the same as it is today, where you have true music lovers trying to seek out new and exciting music at every opportunity, aswell as going to that musicians gigs, whereas those happy to listen to radio friendly music will continue to be lazy and listen to the radio and listen to whatever new pop princesses album. The only thing that might change is that maybe we might not give certain albums the time they need to mature before moving onto something new
