My copy of How Buildings Learn is shamelessly dog-eared at this stage. I predict that you will read it and read it, and shake your head, and read it again. Magic.

Can I humbly recommend adding the Geography of Nowhere to your pile?

I second the recommendation of How Buildings Learn. It changed how I think about design, and the ideas in there can be applied to almost any creative field. A seminal book for me. Stewart Brand is my unhesitating answer to the “if you could have dinner with any person” question.

FWIW, I read Orbiting… too, and didn’t think much of it at all.

Must say I am hovering over that buy button on Amazon a lot . Will put that building book onto my wishlist !

  4. Alexia Golez says:

Is this the beginning of the Mulley Book Club aka Richard and Judy?

    Dang… a la** 😀

  6. Check out bookdepository.co.uk – they do free shipping from the UK. Unfortunately for your bundle of books, they don’t have How Buildings Learn but if they did the total of all your books delivered would be less than Amazon.com + less air miles into the bargain. As for me, I’ll stick to local bookshops and try and keep a few bob in the economy in these difficult times 😉
