Fluffy Links – Friday November 2nd 2007

All the Irish news feeds in one location.

More Ace Internet Marketing parodies. Here too.

Looking to get a cheap, sub 200 euros digital camera. Something that will fit in my jacket pocket and something not attached to a phone. Been looking here and at this and this. Comments?

Love this. People are jail-breaking iPhones and iPod Touches in the Apple Stores.

How not to do a divorce in the media. Hilarious.

A short video on Paul Rand. Logo superlord.

Gorby has a secret message in the Louis Vuitton ads? Surely a hoax?

I recently got the Fuji Z10 for my parents – mainly because it’s really easy to use, very simple. Takes fantastic photos in Auto Mode and has wonderful face detection technology and x3 zoom. It’s their first digital camera and they love it. Although it does come packed with features and settings, it’s all buried within menus. It’s perfect for simple point and click shots though. It takes SD and XD cards too, which is nice.

FUJI FinePix Z10 also comes with a lithium ion battery which makes a huge difference!

Yeah the a820 takes AA but it does have that dial to access shooting modes, which is really handy if you like to easily switch between modes (it’s not so easy on the z10).

Woohoo Photo nerd dance off! 🙂

  5. […] so thought I would post it here to see what you think. Damien Mulley was kind enough to give me a plug on his blog earlier today. Cheers (P.S. I tried to write this post originally using Firefox on Mac and I […]

    @Damien lol

    Well….the Z10 is …..red……em…..yeah.

Whatever camera you do end up getting, try a 2gb SD card with built-in wifi as an extra bonus – http://www.eye.fi/

    Very nifty.

Pixmania… I have mixed feelings about them. I’ve bought 4 products from them. The two cheaper ones (an SD card and a tripod) arrived without any hassles. The 2 bigger products (Pentax K100D (awesome DSLR) and a Compaq laptop for a friend) took aaaages to arrive. Laptop, bought with 24 hour delivery last FRIDAY, is still nowhere to be seen.

  9. Paul says:

Oh, and if you do try to phone them as per the number on their contact page (http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/contacts.html?itag=12322), stick a 0044 in front of the number.

  10. That Irish URLs site is excellent, especially for expats like myself. I can keep up with all the tribunals now!

My wife is a professional photographer, so she thinks they are both beneath comment 🙂 All she would say was the red one has more memory and the other one has more pixels….. take your pick…..

Hmm, strange, I left a comment here last night but WordPress seems to have eaten it. The jist of what I said is that if I had to choose one of those two I would go with the A820, I’ve heard some pretty damning reviews of the pretty red one, pretty and red though it is.

If I might make another recommendation for under €200 I think the Canon Powershot A570 IS is worth a look: http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/534572/art/canon/powershot-a570-is.html

You can check out the results others have gotten from that one here: http://www.flickr.com/cameras/canon/powershot_a570_is/ . Flickr is an exellent resource when researching cameras I think.
