I'm not saying the sites did comply but it would be a misrepresentation to say they failed W3C standards without testing them properly. Without getting into the debate here... whilst code validity is something that all developers should aim for, it's not the end of the world when a major site fails in this area. That is of course, not the same as saying it's ok for them not to comply with W3C standards. Now that I've detracted from the importance of the post and the fact that I'm in agreement with is... :) Damien, just to point out that Eoghan only tested for code validity.
