this figure makes me cry...
he is the most useless politician I have ever met.. how could he rack up such high expenses? somebody please explain this to me. he lied to vincent browne on radio 1 lately saying that he couldn't turn up because he was stuck in traffic in dublin..even though the show's producer had rang him at his house in cork only an hour before the show.

michael lowry is an independent, of course his expenses will be high he has to run a constituency office etc etc.

Trevor Sargent's expenses are quite low I would guess because he has a good team in dublin North which he shares with Joe Corr local cllr. also the matter of party leader expenses.

Green party expenses are high because they don't accept corporate donations and because they are entitled to the money to run their constituency offieces where as FF and FG might share one due to having more than one candidate per constituency.

also note that simon coveny just claims his expenses from his MEP job. probably . what a joke, i don't know how anyone can vote for such a greedy guy. at least he's promised to drop his MEP job if he gets back into the dail. if he was here 15 years ago he probably would have been an mep, cllr and T.D. all at the same time if he could get away with it.

also ministers salaries are phenomenal it either comes from those (€250,000 p.a.) or they just charge everything to their respective department.

as for bertie ahern's make up bill it was roughly €28,000.

I can only see €6,349 for Bertie Ahern's expenses. This must be separate from his make-up expenses then which, last I heard, cost c €145,000. Or am I wrong?

well in fairness to michael lowry he is a very busy worker on the ground and turns up alol over the county. so it is fesible that the expenses come from this also the liturature he comes out with would not have the benefit of big party discounts with printers

I was just going to ask if it was a coincidence that Michael Lowry is second only to John Dennehy in the highest expenses figure...

Why is it that the ministers tend to claim less in expenses? I would have thought they'd blame their busy jobs as a reason to claim more...

Do they get an additional ministerial expense not included in these figures?
