In which my real agenda is exposed.

No, not that agenda or that one either. As some cynics have pointed out I have an ulterior motive to the Blog Awards and running them. I want to be more popular and get to be the new “It” guy of the Irish blogging community. I’ll be like Cheers, where everyone knows my name except I’ll only midly smell of beer and peanuts. And the reason for all this? Free homecooked meals. There said it. Take your jaw off the floor. I know, shocker isn’t it?

Have you seen the blog posts on food around these parts lately? Winds has a whole shagging section on cookery as does Morgan. Suzy tempts my tummy now and then too. Bernard too has recipes.

And then of course there’s Cheesecake boy. 🙂

We should have a big cook-out. We’ve done drinks, we’ve done conferences, we’ve done dinners in a restaurant. Now the bloggers should get together and cook. I shall eat their meals as I am a nice guy.

Are there others out there? I know I forgot a few. I must be their new friend and be popular with them!

No doubt James will make an OPML node for these foody blogs 🙂

and don’t forget bibliocook. Ahem I must confess I have been known to help people with blog issues for free food….

  2. Morgan says:

You’ll have to travel a way to get my home cooking, though 🙂

I need to add to that section soon. I’ve not been experimenting recently, and I can’t just add repeats.

Btw Damien, are you using WP 2.0? I’m having no luck getting nice user-friendly permalinks on my local test version. From a read through the user forum, it looks like a known issue…

  3. Winds says:

Are you going to do the wash up afterwards? Because every man I ever cooked for always did. 🙂

I haven’t been as good with the experimenting for the past few weeks – I must confess Christmas got in my way in a big way. But with the assorted pancakes, we should be right back on schedule provided I remember to look at the cookbooks before I do the grocery shopping.

    Terrific idea! 😉

  5. Food is a worthy excuse for running these awards. No one expected you to do it for nothing, so I think your management of the ceremony in return for cheesecake etc. is a fair deal.

I’ll put a plug on El Blogador later reminding people about the awards. BTW, if anybody likes El Blogador, feel free to nominate it for any/all categories, apart from the fictional category (although some of our political adversaries would suggest that is the best place for it 😉 )

    ahem.

  7. Plug on the site, as promised…

  8. Damien says:

    Matador: Thanks

Winds: I’ll bring the fairy liquid.

Morgan: Post the food to me! Michele was having same blog issues: http://www.mneylon.com/blog/archives/2006/01/19/wordpress-2-permalink-issues/

    Elana: Yes dear.

  9. Thanks for the plug Suzy!
Damien – I like your post on Guinness ice-cream. Have you got The Dossing Times to agree to bring his cheesecake along to the Irish blog awards, yet?
