A wasted opportunity – Politician’s Blogs

After glancing at Liz McManus’ blog I’m quite disappointed that it reads like a newsletter or something sent through PR filters. Her blog would have been a good platform to explain herself more and to go away from the scipt. Less soundbites and more discursive posts. She is not writing for her audience or conversing with them, she is lecturing. While comments are allowed, there doesn’t seem to be any way of motivating people to comment. Shame really.

Hi, I had a look at Liz McManus’s blog and don’t really think your comments are completely fair. Its great that a promient politician is at least trying out different forums. Granted, I’d be Labour leaning so may be biased (also blogs are new to me), but I don’t think we should knock her attempts at such an early stage. To be honest it looks good and has a lot of interesting information. Maybe could be geared towards more discussion, but I’m sure that’ll come – and it does seem to be trying…

Hopefully more and more politicians will try to engage this way. Certainly I will be logging on to Liz McManus’s blog again – if not just to support the motive behind it.

I’d also like to see more comments being posted though. Thanks.
    Ben.

Give her a chance, I checked it out and there’s only a handful of posts so she’s hasn’t really gotten started yet. I don’t see though how you think she is lecturing.
